Heather is off to Germany to visit our collaborator Prof. Berit Ebert, at Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. Heather’s trip is generously sponsored by a RUB Visiting International Professor award from the RUB Research School. On May 15, she will present a research seminar to the Department for Biology and Biotechnology and on May 22, she will give a seminar specifically for students.

Heather is returning to her hometown as the seminar speaker at Queen’s University’s Department of Biology seminar speaker for this week. She will present about some of the lab’s ongoing work on how changes to cell wall synthesis can also result in changes to Golgi structure and function.

Heather is the invited seminar speaker at the Department of Biology at McGill University today. She will update everyone on the recent research from the lab and join the graduate students for lunch to talk about her career since graduating with an MSc from McGill.
Next week, Natalie will give a talk at the Cell Wall Research Conference. The meeting is being held in-person in East Lansing, Michigan, but Natalie will be attending virtually. Catch up with Natalie if you have questions after her talk!
Natalie and Eduardo both presented at the Eastern Regional Meeting of the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists today. Natalie was awarded the prize for best talk and Eduardo was awarded the prize for best poster. Congratulations to Eduardo and Natalie for their exciting results and excellent communication!

Most members of the McFarLab will be attending the Eastern Regional Meeting of the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists on Saturday, an online meeting hosted by Carleton University. Natalie will present a talk about her research and Eduardo will present a poster about his research.
Natalie & Heather will be attending the International Conference on Arabidopsis Research, held virtually this year. Heather will give a talk in the Cell Wall session on “Fortifying the plant cell wall under stress: 7TM proteins promote CSC trafficking”.
Heather and Jacqueline Monaghan from Queen’s University will also run a workshop “Running a Research Group in the next generation” which features an exciting lineup of three fantastic female group leaders: Siobhan Brady, Liz Haswell, and Sonali Roy.
